Andamooka
During one of my trips to the Flinders ranges I visited many small outback towns. As I walked up the main street and found some small huts off the side of the road in their original condition. These huts were built in the 1930s as a result of a high amount of Opal being found in the area at the time. This was the start of the mining town called Andamooka.
I created this painting with the theme of disconnect as when I was younger I didn't get the chance to explore outback country towns like Andamooka historical cottages. I have changed a lot since moving out of home and this change is reflected in this painting. The strong contrast between my current life and my younger self is also demonstrated in my clothing - a pink dress with a pink bow, something I would never wear now.
